Nordic-Baltic Bee Council and Nordic-Baltic Apicultural Research Symposium 30th–31st of March 2023
The Finnish Beekeepers’ Association and Ålands Biodlarförening invite scientists, advisors, board members and other colleagues from the beekeeping sector to take part in the Nordic-Baltic Bee Council (NBBC) and Nordic-Baltic Apicultural Research Symposium (NBARS) 2023 in Mariehamn, Åland. The meetings will take place from
Thursday the 30th of March at 10:00 to Friday the 31st of March at 16:00. Advisors will as usual have the chance to meet on Wednesday 29th of March.
Apicultural Research Symposium (Thursday and Friday)
We will have a program with presentations (from 15 to 20 minutes per presentation) covering a wide range of topics over research and beekeeping from many points of views. Please send the topic and abstract of your presentation(s) latest by the 1st of March to Anneli Salonen anneli.salonen@hunaja.net
Nordic-Baltic Bee Council Meeting (Friday)
This meeting will be the political and organisational part of the program which specially addresses board members of the national beekeeping associations. The meeting will take place on Friday from 8:30 am to 9:30 am. Please send your input for the agenda latest by the 20th of March to Marcela Sucha marcelasucha@gmail.com.
Cultural event and dinner (Thursday)
On Thursday evening we would like to invite you to the area of Kastelholm Castle. There we will have a tour in the Åland Distillery which is a passionate beverage innovator with roots in the history of the Åland Islands. After that we will have a dinner at Smakby restaurant, in an oasis of good food, flavorful drinks, artisanal foods and local products.
Micro Apiexpo (Thursday and Friday)
We will not only hear about your projects. We will also see them and feel them. We invite each country to bring a micro exhibition showing what is going on in your country. Each country will have a table available. Please bring your posters, brochures, books and maybe even products.
Advisor Meeting (Wednesday)
This will be the special meeting for the advisors of the national beekeeping associations and other beekeeping advisory services. In this meeting we will discuss on different topics and activities and will learn more about beekeeping in Åland. The meeting will take place at the Åland beekeepers’ Bihus (Beehouse), Godby. Participants will be picked up from the hotel at 10 am and we will be back at the hotel after dinner in Stallhagen.
Touristic trip (Saturday)
After the meeting, on Saturday 1.4.2023 we are planning to have a touristic trip in Åland and at least visit apple
orchard, Bihus and maybe Stallhagen. The trip will cost approximately 40 €.

Advisor meeting participant add 100 €
Touristic trip on Saturday 40 €
The prices include meeting program, coffee breaks, lunch and dinner on Thursday as well as breakfast if you have accommodation. Participants in the advisor meeting will have to add expenses related to this meeting 100 €.
